About object

Wanås Konst Sculpture Park is located in southern Sweden, in the rural landscape of Skåne, where a historic estate, dense forests, and open meadows form a unique setting for contemporary art. The sculpture park surrounds Wanås Castle, a 15th‑century manor, and offers visitors an experience where nature, history, and art are inseparably intertwined. Marika and Charles Wachtmeister founded the Wanås Foundation, which develops and manages the Wanås Konst Sculpture Park.

Since 1987, the Wanås Foundation has invited international artists to create site‑specific works for the park. Today, the sculpture park features more than 70 permanent works integrated into the landscape. Artists such as Yoko Ono, Ann Hamilton, Jenny Holzer, Marina Abramović, and Robert Wilson have contributed works that challenge perception and encourage reflection. Maya Lin has shaped the ground into a 500‑meter winding line in the landscape. Nordic artists are also well represented, among them Per Kirkeby, Charlotte Gyllenhammar, Ann‑Sofi Sidén, Ruri, and Sissel Tolaas.

The forested 40 hectares park encourages visitors to explore installations placed among trees, in clearings, or near water, while others are positioned in relation to the estate’s historic architecture.
